Kita Alps BASE Onsengo Campground

北アルプスBASE温泉郷キャンプ場

Small campground opened in 2023 in the Omachi Onsenkyo hot-spring village of Omachi, Nagano, next door to the Yakushi-no-yu day-use onsen and about 20 m from the bus terminal, where buses leave for Ogizawa (Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route), Northern Alps trailheads and, in winter, the Kashimayari, Jiigatake and Hakuba Valley ski areas. Tent camping aimed at climbers and skiers, including those without a car.

Good to know

Phone bookings only from 3 days ahead; the office may not answer, so use web or email. In February, fireworks are launched on Saturday nights from the nearby Kashima River bed.

Access

By car: about 110 min (70 km) from Itoigawa IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. By bus: Alpico local bus from JR Shinano-Omachi Station, express bus from JR Nagano Station (Raicho Liner), shuttle taxi from Shinshu-Matsumoto Airport, or highway buses from Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka to the Omachi Onsenkyo stop. Taxi from Shinano-Omachi about 2,900 yen.
